Lazy day finish 1

So this is the first finish of my lazy day crochet UFOs (Un-finished objects). I made the first pair of hearts into earrings.

As I made the bottom embellishment, I thought they would be cute earrings on their own. So, I made those earrings too. :) I reused the wire from the wire ribbon I used to make the ribbon flowers. Yes, I am a crafter and so I keep just about everything. :P The wire was perfect, thin enough that it made it easier to wrap around the heart and string on the beads.

Sorry for the dirty glass. I used a vase that still had glitter in it from the ornaments that were in there during Xmas.

Have you started your Valentines Day jewelry making yet?

Presents for a Beautiful Thailand Princess

My friend went to visit his fiance in the Philippines. So, I made him bring some presents for her from me. :) He is her Xmas present. hehe Sorry, but this will be a long post.

This is the bag that everything fit in. It is about the size of a piece of paper and 2 inches thick. It took almost 1/2 of his suitcase. Luckily, he is a guy and so didn't need to bring too much clothes with him and he is a super packer from years of experience in the Army. hehe The bag is from the dollar section of Michael's but is a very sturdy and cute little tote. I am sure she will find other uses for it. :)

She loves chocolates and her favorite brand is Ritter Sport. We have it here in Target so I got her some of those. Since she likes whole hazelnuts, I thought she would like to try Ferrero Rocher if she has not tried it before. The bear was just way too cute. :) It is made my Lindt. I love their chocolates with the smooth centers but I like the square ones not the round ones. Sadly, they stopped selling the square ones. These Belgian Chocolate thins are yummy. They have a little crunch to them and are thin enough so that you can eat 1-3 and it will satisfy a craving well enough. :)

On her Xmas list, she asked for creme eyeshadow. I did not know how hard it was to find and get over here. I mainly found creme eye liner but these were nice so I got some for her. I think Clinique had some eyeshadow creme pens but they were hard for me to use. I hope these work well for her. :)

These little bundles contain some cute hair clips. :) They needed to be wrapped simply so that they can fit into the tote bag or else I could not get everything in there. :)

Rose hair clips I crochet for her. Red, because it's one of her fav colors and blue because her working uniform is blue. Can you see the sparkilies? :)

Ribbon hair clip in her favorite colors, red and yellow. :)

Queen Anne Lace Scarf finished!

And here is how I wrapped it. :)

Made a tube out of card stock. I was going to put it into an empty food container but I think it would make it harder to get it though the metal detectors in the airport.

I made rosettes from the wrapping paper I used to wrap the cylinder. These will close off the cylinder at both ends.

Then I accordion folded the scarf into the cylinder.

I added the rosette to the other end and tied it together with curling ribbon.

And that's it. It's a little hard to work with but it is really cute. I think of it as anther version of the Christmas cracker. The ends are a bit different because I had to fit it into the tote. :)

Here are the last two gifts I made for her and put into the package. :)

Pink Side
3D beaded Cross Bookmark.

Red Side
Yep, it is double sided.:) I think you can see the lobster claw clasp. That will allow her to take the cross off the bookmark and use it as a pendant for a necklace.

Lastly, I made this bell bracelet. It was a last minute bout of inspiration. :) I had to figure out how to put bells onto a bracelet but I didn't want to do the old charm bracelet method or stringing them on because that would take too many. So, I wove a simple base and added the bells as adornments. I was going to use a blue base because that is the 3rd color in the triangle on the color wheel but I wasn't feeling it.

I added the cluster of bells in the center because I miss counted the spaces. hehe but I like it! Some times covering up a mistake makes it more special. :)

I hope my friends are having a great Xmas together! I miss them both and hope someday we can all celebrate the holiday together in person. :)

I hope all of you are having a great December filled with friends and family, lots of laughter and love, and plenty of crafting! :)

Note: I made and wrapped all of these in the first week of December but I have to wait till after she opens up her gifts to post this. :)

Pumpkin Spice Scarf

I finished my friend's Xmas scarf a few days ago but just got around to taking the pictures during the day.

I added roses to the bottoms of this scarf too. This time, because of the width of the scarf, I made the bigger crochet roses. I added a pin back but I think I am going to change to a hair clip so that the roses can be worn in the hair or maybe I will leave the pin back so that the rose can be used to keep the scarf closed.

Finished scarf in all it's glory. I hope she likes it.

Seeing Red...Holiday Red! :)

I finished the Red Sparkily Scarf! I hope that special someone likes it. :)

Rolled up Scarf
Close up of the ... stitch :)
I have decided not to say the name of the stitch so not to offend anyone who is really sensitive. The link to the pattern is in a previous post.

Scarf being modeled
Xmas Eeyore, who has been sitting in that seat since last Xmas, is my very cute model for the scarf. :)

Get my good side! :)
Left over yarn
This pattern was a one skein scarf! I had so much left over, that I decided to crochet some flowers to go on the ends of the scarf, just to dress it up a bit. The yarn is Lion Brand Yarn, Vanna's Glamour, Ruby Red color.

Crochet flowers
I made flower 1 of this tutorial instead of the other flower I had done a few months back. But I changed the start of the pattern by using this magic ring so that the centers don't have to be filled in with a button.

Flower on the end of the scarf
I am going to pin it on the end of the scarf so it can be taken off for washing or I can make other flowers in other colors so that they can be changed to match the outfit. By making these flowers, pins, she can also wear them as a brooch. :)

Ribbon Flower

I had made a 5 petal flower with this red wire ribbon from the Xmas section of Michaels (seen in previous post) but then I saw these poinsettia ornaments and thought they were look nice in the center. This time I made a 6 petal flower because the poinsettias were so big.

I don't know if I want to make them into brooches or hair clips or both. :) I will definitely need to use them on at least one package in lieu of a bow. :)

I might make a few crochet flowers to embellish tags for the gifts. :) I want to make my own tags this year. Usually, I just write a card and use that as give tags. If I do, I will definitely post the finished products. :)

Hope you guys are having a productive holiday season! :)

Brooch Finishes

Over the last week, I have been focused on brooches. I was able to finish 3 brooches, more due to necessity than from actually being productive. :P

Finish # 1
I finished a brooch made out of zippers called, Black Zipper Flower. I had written about this in my Procrastination Made Me post. I gave it to my friend, Trinity, who made me really happy by promptly placing it into her hair. :)

I found these coiless safety pin at Joann's and fell in love with their versatility. With this pin, you could take it out if it bothers you while you are wearing it in your hair and you can adjust it to lay the way you want on your clothes. I then cut slits into the felt so that the hair clip could be taken out all together or you could switch sides. My friend wore the flower in her hair during the whole dinner and it didn't move an inch. Everyone was surprised when I pointed out that it was made with a zipper. :)

Finish # 2
I also finished my Fall Floral brooch on my previous post. I actually sewed the leaf to the flower and the pin back. I decided to leave it with only one leaf.

Yea, it did not turn out to remind me of fall at all but it is still a nice piece. Making this one taught me about colors, connecting pieces, and adding a pin back.

Panda's Tip of the Day:
Place your pin back a little further up towards the top of your piece. It will allow it to lay nicer when you wear it. I did not do it for this piece because that is where the pin back would be hidden from view. So now when someone wears it, the flower will be tilted forward a little.

Finish # 3
I had found this tutorial for making small crochet hearts. I made one to see how easy it really was. FYI, I have not touched a crochet needle in a couple of years so it took a little to get me back into the swing of things. As with riding a bike, it didn't take long for me to pick it back up. There was this weird hole so I just added this really bling and cute button. I think it adds a little classiness to something very homely. :)

With the right findings and some good persuasive reason, I can finish what I started. hehe

Finish on!
