Happy Panda Mother's Day!

Happy Mothers Day!! Thank you mom for teaching me to crochet, knit, sew, and craft. And for letting me buy all the things and tools that go with them! hehe

Happy 1st Mother's Day to all the new moms....Nirali and Winnie. :)

I hope all your Mother's Days are going awesome. My mom wanted to go see a movie, Oblivion. Then I bought her some cacti for her garden. And finished with a cake from 85c and McDonalds. It's really hot here and my mom didn't want to wait at a restaurant so she wanted McD's. hehe Whatever the woman wants, she gets...today at least. hehe

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day

For my present this year, I made a digital scrapbook and then had it printed and bound. The card is a really cute pop up. :) I am happy to say that she loved it! :)

Heart Mom feltie & Experiment went wrong

I made a "Heart Mom" feltie keychain with a pocket for a little note for my friend's yard sale. She is selling stuff to raise money for her church trip to El Salvador. They go out there to help build homes for the poor. It is an even more special trip because last year, on the same mission, she didn't know it but she met her now finance. They are getting married in November. :) I'm so happy for them. Since the yard sale is this Saturday, the day before Mother's Day, I thought a few themed items would be nice for last min gift buyers. :)
and this feltie experiment came out so wrong. :p

I was trying to make a dragon onigiri feltie but failed. As you can see, I did not finish it because I didn't like it. I don't know if it is the eyes or the "ears" but it just looks too strange. I do like the back though. It does look like a row of horns down his back or a mohawk. hehe

I like to share some of my failed experiments because when I see other people have tried and failed too, it doesn't make me feel so bad. :) I might try again but with a different design. :)

Good luck with your Mother's Day gift shopping!

Saphira Dragon amigurumi

Saphira from the Eragon book series.
When my friend, Rachel, showed her mom my other dragon amigurumi, her mom immediately wanted one because she loves the dragon, Saphira. Of course, being a good daughter, Rachel, asked me to make one in time for Mother's Day. Here she is! :)

Yes, I am currently reading the last book in the series. :)

iPiccy is a free online photo editing site. It has a cool collage feature but I don't like how you can't shrink, enlarge, or rotate the pics within the collage feature. It is very frustrating.

Materials:
Caron Simply Soft in Celestial
Crochet hook: 3.25mm
Safety eyes: 12mm
white felt

I don't like making the same thing over and over. There will probably be only one more amigurumi dragon from this pattern that I will make for a dragon baby that is coming soon. :) Each time I make something simliar, I like to change things to try to improve on the design or try something new.

This time I used this crochet wing pattern, sort of. I accidentally skipped row 2 so I went with the pattern of just hdc down the row then dec on the last two for each row. I still don't know how to actually crochet 2 hdc together but I winged it (no pun intended. :)). It gives a different look than the felt embroidered wings.

I also attached the arms and tail on before stuffing the body. It made it easier. You just have to know how the body will look after stuffing and position the appendages appropriately. After you stuff, your amigurumi can be shaped a little different.

Panda's Tip of the Day

Use dryer sheets to trap the pellets so they will not slip pass the crochet stitches.

I like the use of these poly pellets to weigh down your amigurumi a little so it can stand a little better but I fear these little balls of plastic might be squeezed out between the crochet stitches. So, I used some dryer sheets to make little pouches with a few simple running stitches. It works really well and I didn't have to go buy some cloth. As you can see in the last pic, that it really worked. :)

Cup of Coco Feltie and Crochet Heart charm

Here are a couple of little crafts that I made in the past few days.

Here is a nice cup of hot coco feltie keychain. :) I drink a lot more hot coco than coffee. Mmmm mmm good. :) I wonder if I should put some mini marshmallows in the coco since that's how I like mine. :) I am also happy to report that my blanket stitch is getting better. :)

Here is a crochet heart cell charm/ fob. I used Sailor Octopus's free pattern. Do you think it would work for a Mother's Day present? I am racking my brain for Mother's Day presents. On the next one, I might add a cute face. :)

Hook: 3.75mm
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft in Autumn Red

Happy Hump Day!
